Captain's Message

Well here we are at the close of our regular golf season. It’s hard to believe, as it feels like I just blinked and it’s almost over! It has been an honor to serve as Captain this year, and I hope you have all had as much fun as I have.

Don’t forget our general membership meeting on October 29th, at 8:30 am in the members’ lounge. We will have a light breakfast with juice and coffee, then golf in a scramble starting at approximately 10:30 am. It’s important to attend if at all possible, as we’ll have our election of the Executive Board, and discuss this year and next. It’s important that you RSVP for the golf that day, to ensure we have enough tee times. Also, please email me if you have any ideas about things you’d like to see included, and especially if you have any interest in serving on the Board, or helping in some way next year.

Finally, don’t forget our annual awards dinner on November 17th at 5:30pm in the Events Center. Golf Goddess prizes as well as many other awards will be given out that night. It’s always a great time! Stay tuned for more details, they should be coming around the first of November.

Happy golfing!

Linda Celestre

Nov. 17th Awards & Holiday Dinner

The Goddess Match Play winners will be announced at the awards dinner rather the general meeting as previously planned. Similar to last year, we plan a collection of monetary and food donations for the Food Bank. More details forthcoming.

RHWGC Championship

Thank you to all the ladies who participated in the tournament this year. Congratulations to Laura Jones who has retained her spot as club champion. Hot on her heels was Tammy Vineyard, and low net over field is Julie Martinson. For a complete listing of tournament results, click here.

18 Most Misunderstood Rules of Golf

Dianne Nicholson has compiled a list of 18 most misunderstood rules of golf. Following are the top five. Click here to read the full list.

1. Red Staked Lateral Hazard
Option 1 — Play it from the hazard
Option 2 — Replay the shot from the original position, incurring a stroke and distance penalty
Option 3 — Draw a line from the hole to where the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard and drop anywhere behind that point keeping the point between you and the hole, incurring a one-shot penalty
Option 4 — Go to the point where the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard and drop within two (2) club lengths, no nearer the hole, on either side of the hazard, incurring a one-shot penalty

2. Yellow Staked Water Hazard

3. Lost Ball or Out-of-Bounds
After looking for a maximum of five (5) minutes, you must go back to where the shot was originally played from and replay, incurring a stroke and distance penalty.

4. Unplayable Lie
Option 1 — Take two (2) club lengths relief, no closer to the hole and assess a one-stroke penalty
Option 2 — Replay the shot from the original position, incurring a stroke and distance penalty
Option 3 — Take the ball back as far as you want, keeping the point where the ball lays between you and the hole, incurring a one-shot penalty

5. Improving Your Swing Path
You cannot bend, break, or hack anything growing or fixed if it improves your lie, your stance, or your area of intended swing. The penalty for doing so is loss of hole in Match Play or a two-shot penalty in Stroke Play.

This girl is on FIRE!

Congratulations to Dianne Nicholson for her Eagle, Sept. 13 on the Hills #10, AND a hole in one, Sept. 15 on the Hills #5!

Cudos to Becky Blohm for earning her 'Break 100' pin during the club championship!

End of the Year Eclectic Update

What a year it has been for the competition in the Eclectic Tournament! The competition has been fierce. I distributed the last update for the Eclectic as of September 30. Results for the month of October will be announced at the Awards Dinner on November 17.
