August 2018

Greetings Golfing Goddesses!

It's so hard to believe we are well into the last half of our season. Where has the time gone? I hope you're having lots of fun this year. The Board and various committees have worked hard to ensure you do! I'd like to give Kudos to Kimberly and Michelle for doing such a great job in organizing our Thursday and Saturday play. Both ladies are very organized, and have made sure that our play dates have run smoothly, even when they have been gone.

On the subject of Kudos and thanks, I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to Pam Kolko and her committee for putting on a FABULOUS Member Guest Tournament in July. I heard such great feedback, and it really was a fun tournament. I know that my guests were really happy. I have heard nothing but great comments about those tee prizes. In fact, they're so cool that the Men are getting the same prizes for their upcoming Invitational! I guess imitation really is the highest form of flattery!

We are now looking forward to the Intra Club Tournament on August 17, and the Club Championship on September 16-17. We also have a couple more HSTP events between now and the end of the year, so there is still a lot coming up! Please remember that there is a requirement for the Club Championship to play with the RHWGC on a Thursday or Saturday play date at least five times during the season. If you're worried about getting in those five rounds, take a look at the remaining play dates and make sure you get them done in order to qualify! We're also still going strong with Golf Goddess matches. Some flights look like they're almost finished, while others are a little slower, but please try to get those rounds in before the deadline.

Finally, while we still have some time in the season, your Board is trying to make sure we have everything in place for next year. With that in mind, we have appointed a Nominations Committee to put together a slate of officers for the 2018 season. If you get contacted by the committee and asked to serve in a Board position, please consider doing so. This is a volunteer organization, and it can only remain strong if people step up to keep it going!

Happy Golfing!!!

Linda Celestre

Save the date for our 1st annual Nine With You and BBQ, Sept 24, 3:00 p.m. The nine hole scramble will be followed by a BBQ dinner. Watch for details coming soon.

Well, the 2017 RHWGC Member Guest is in the books! CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners (in golf and the raffle)! Again, a huge THANK YOU to my fantastic committee. It was so successful because of them. And thank you to the entire membership for coming out and playing and/or contributing to the raffle. Diana did another incredible job on those baskets! The Red Hawk staff also out did themselves with all the help they provided us.

Thank you to those who sent me pictures. If you have some please send them to me for our scrapbook.

It was such a pleasure to work with you all!

HSTP — Update

On July 31 Red Hawk was represented by Peggy Hickman, Dianne Nicholson, Linda Mantoani, Linda Dankoff, Carey Smith and Tammy Vineyard at the HSTP tournament at Red Hawk, hosted by the D'Andrea ladies. Congratulations to our team. We earned 69 points, more than doubling our total from the previous two events. As they say, "There is no place like home."

Our August event is at Eagle Valley West and our team is comprised of Linda Celestre, Mary Brock, Margaret Turner, Chris Herauf, Carey Smith and Tammy Vineyard. Our final two events are at the Incline Championship Course and Somersett. Both of these are great courses to play so we hope many members will sign up to qualify.

Thanks again to the July team for braving the heat and delivering the points!

Tammy Vineyard, HSTP Chair

Our 9-hole group is underway. Come join us sometime for a relaxing, no-pressure practice session. If you're new to the game, or want a chance to practice your shots, come join us! Contact Rae Morrow to get on the notice for upcoming dates.

The Sunshine Chair is one of the clubs quiet, yet very important part of the board. Managing the position this year, Marianne Sass, sends out birthday cards for each birthday of the month, sympathy cards, and get well or encouragement cards. The cards are always signed from the ladies of the Red Hawk Golf Club. During 2017 Marianne has sent an average of 6 to 10 cards a month along with get well cards as the need arises.
